BGSU-NUFP Graduate School Fellowship Award

The Bowling Green State University College Student Personnel program is pleased to announce the creation of the BGSU-NUFP Graduate School Fellowship. This award will be used to support a BGSU CSP student who has successfully completed the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP). NUFP was created to encourage undergraduate minorities and students with disabilities to consider the field of student affairs. Begun in 1989 by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), it provides a structured mentorship program (including a mentor, campus-based experiences, summer institute and summer internship) to approximately 100 undergraduate students each year across the United States (Bowling Green State University is a Participating Institution and has had several undergraduate NUFP Fellows.)

All students admitted to the College Student Personnel master’s degree program are required to interview for and secure a graduate internship on the Bowling Green State University campus or with one of 13 area cooperating colleges. As compensation for their service, students receive a full-tuition scholarship (for either in-state or out-of-state tuition) and a stipend. Stipends range from approximately $8,100 to $10,500 for the academic year. In addition, many of our students hold live-in residence life positions and their compensation package also includes room and board.

The newly created BGSU-NUFP Graduate School Fellowship will be awarded each year to one NUFP Fellow who enrolls in our CSP program. The recipient will receive a $1500 award for each of his or her two years of enrollment. This $1500 annual award will be in addition to the student’s tuition scholarship and stipend. The student will be able to use the funds for books, supplies, professional development or job search expenses. The first recipient will be selected from those NUFP Fellows admitted to the CSP program for the 2007-2008 academic year. The CSP program faculty are very excited about this opportunity to support the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program and to assist program participants who are seeking graduate education to further their careers in our field.

Prospective students who are alumni of the NASPA NUFP program will be considered for the BGSU-NUFP Graduate School Fellowship Award automatically upon enrollment in the CSP program. NUFP alumni applying to the CSP program should remember to indicate NUFP graduation in their application materials.
