Dietetics
is an interdisciplinary science that studies the application of the principles of human nutrition and foods. Dietetics is becoming increasingly important in the maintenance of health and the prevention of diseases for people of all ages -- from infancy to old age.

The undergraduate program in dietetics at Bowling Green State University is distinguished by:

• Opportunities to work closely with talented faculty members who are outstanding teachers and   scholars;
• Extensive hands-on laboratory experiences;
• Coursework that focuses on both personal and professional skills;
• A focus on lifelong learning.

The Dietetics Program is currently granted Initial Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association, 120 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606

For general information regarding the field of Dietetics, watch this video clip prepared by the American Dietetic Association that describes what a registered dietician does.  See also the RD Fact Sheet for information about the process of becoming a registered dietician.
