 Dietetic internship program
prospective interns

The Dietetic Internship Program at Bowling Green State University has been in existence since 1992. We currently offer three options to interested students. We can accept 6 students into the on-site program (Option 1 or Option 2) and 20 students into the Distance Internship Program.

The number of students in option 1 or option 2 varies each year, depending on the applicant pool. In general, students choosing option 1 will be given a higher ranking during the matching process than students choosing option 2.

Option 1
Combined Dietetic Internship + Master’s Degree
This option takes approximately 2 years to complete. The required 1200 supervised practice hours and at least 24 graduate credits are completed the first year. Successful completion of the program requires a master’s thesis and a minimum of 37 graduate credits.

Option 2
Dietetic Internship + Graduate Certificate
This option takes one calendar year to complete. Students must accumulate 1200 supervised practice hours and 15 graduate credits to successfully complete the program. This begins fall semester (late August) and ends in late July. Applicants with an existing Master’s Degree will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine course requirements.

Option 3
Distance Dietetic Internship + Graduate Certificate
This option is basically the same as option 2, but is completed at the location of the applicant’s choice. Graduate courses are completed on-line. It is intended to be completed in one year.
