  • What is EDFI 302 (Educational Psychology)?
    Theory and research on learning, development, personality and motivation applied to educational processes in various learning environments. Co-requisite field experience: EDFI 420 required. Prerequisites: PSYC 101 and sophomore status. C/F hrs.: 20.

  • What is EDFI 303 (Educational Psychology Applied to Adolescent Development)?
    Theory and research on socioemotional development, cognition, learning, and motivation, as applied to educational processes in various learning environments with a concentration on the adolescent years. Co-requisite field experience: EDFI 420 required. Prerequisites: PSYC 101 and sophomore status. C/F hrs: 20.
  • Who is required to take EDFI 302 or 303?
    All education majors seeking a K-12 certification (e.g., music education, art education, physical education, special education) are required to take EDFI 302. All middle childhood and secondary (AYA) majors are required to take EDFI 303.
    Note: EDFI 301 (for early childhood majors) is under development and may be offered within the next academic year.
  • Are course substitutions allowed?
    Requested transfer of courses are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Substituting EDFI 302 for 303 is not permitted.
  • What is EDFI 420 and who takes it?
    Supervised practicum experiences involving individual and small group instruction of students in grades K-12 conducted in area schools and other university/community settings. Must be taken concurrently with EDFI 302/303, and may be taken concurrently with EDFI 402, EDFI 408 or EDFI 417 with instructor approval. May be repeated up to 4 hours. Presently, all middle childhood majors must enroll for EDFI 420 for 1 semester credit hour; it is optional for other education majors to enroll for this course for credit.
