Education BA The College of Wooster (Ohio) MA Gonzaga University (Washington) Ph.D. The College of William & Mary (Virginia) Research Interests I am interested in the utilization of technology in the field of counseling, not only in its utility of service provision - but also in the way that technology is changing our culture and communication patterns. Additionally, I am interested in many facets of how our field meets the needs of the LGBT population - including: training counseling students to effectively work with individuals, couples and families, as well as increasing awareness of specific needs of this population in counseling.
Courses Taught - Group Counseling - Crisis Counseling - Assessment and Testing in the Mental Health Setting - Practicum - Consultation and Supervision Professional Experience Beginning as a mental health agency intern working with adults with mental health diagnoses, I moved into a family counseling setting where I worked with couples and families of all backgrounds. I have also worked with the geriatric population. In addition to a wide variety of counseling positions, I also have experience directing a mid-size family counseling center in which I took on a more administrative and organizational role. I have been supervising both community and family counseling master's students for several years, which is a very exciting role for me. As I once hailed from Wooster, OH, I now take residence in Northwest Ohio and am very happy to be at BGSU! |
