| WHO IS MY ADVISOR?
The College of Arts & Sciences offers advising services through both faculty and college advisors. Students in most majors
will be assigned a faculty advisor; others may be assigned a college advisor. To find your assigned advisor, log onto the
BGSU web portal at https://my.bgsu.edu (opens new browser window). You will need to authenticate this page by providing your user name and password. Within MyBGSU
click on "My Advisor" under the Academic Services section. This page will identify your advisor and provide contact information.
WHY DOES THE COLLEGE HAVE BOTH FACULTY AND COLLEGE ADVISORS?
Faculty and college advisors perform overlapping, but slightly different roles. Faculty advisors provide professional insight
relevant to the student's career objectives within the discipline and suggest appropriate course alternatives or experiential
learning opportunities. In most majors, your faculty advisor is your primary advisor and is the advisor you need to have sign
your junior audit for you between 60 - 90 hours. College advisors can also provide the above information but are assigned
for students who are undecided about their major or whose major does not have faculty members directly responsible for academic
advising. College advisors can also assist with policies and procedural questions or can assist you with changing your major.
HOW SOON WILL MY ADVISOR BE ASSIGNED?
Your advisor's name and contact information will be listed on MyBGSU within the first two weeks of your first semester at
BGSU. If you have questions or concerns prior to that time, you may contact the college office in 205 Administration Building
at 419.372.2015 and a college advisor will be available to assist you.
