LATEST NEWS ICS Fellows Lecture Series "Revealing John Doe: The Origins and Culture of Anonymous Speech Presented by Victoria Ekstrand, professor of journalism, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in 207 Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
Her talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Artists and Scholars in Residence Series, organized and operated
by BGSU's Institute for Culture and Society. The series showcases the work of faculty affiliated with the institute.
Professor Ekstand's talk provides a discussion of anonymous speech is U.S. historical and cultural traditions. Central to
her talk is the examination of arguments by parties that have appeared before courts to defend its protection, while also
drawing on interviews with those who have used anonymous speech in these cases to advance some political cause.
