FIRST DAY ATTENDANCE POLICY
The goal of these procedures is to make as many seats as possible
in classes available to students and to process any refunds in a
consistent manner.
Current Practice:
- A student not attending the first session of a class
identified in the Schedule
of Classes book as having a first day attendance requirement
will have the class dropped from his/her schedule.
- Names and PID's of students to be dropped must be sent within
48 hours of the first class meeting to Registration
and Records who will process the drops. (e-mail to
njohnso@bgnet.bgsu.edu or fax to 2-7977)
- Fees will be adjusted according to the published official
refund
schedule. (Refunds will be consistent with the percentage
refund available to all students during the first week of class.
Refunds during the first week of classes are processed at
90%).
- Departments will add a "class note" record on SIS for classes
which will have first day attendance enforced. This information
will print beside the class section in the Schedule of Classes
booklet.
- The one-page list of classes with mandatory first day
attendance will be eliminated from the Schedule of Classes
booklet.
Students who do not attend these classes can expect to be dropped
automatically. In order for the seats to be made available to other
students, the list of students to be dropped must be processed within
48 HOURS after the first class meeting. **Late receipt of the
information will cancel the First Day Attendance policy for that
particular class for subsequent terms.**
R & R will prepare two sets of class rosters for all classes.
The first set will be available the afternoon before classes begin,
and the second set will be printed at the end of the second week of
classes. Faculty will NOT be expected to return the second class
roster. Instead of asking the faculty to record who is not attending
or who is not registered, students will receive a confirmed copy of
their schedule during the third week of classes with the notation
that they are responsible for the accuracy of their schedules.
