PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING

GRADUATE CURRICULUM MODIFICATIONS

MINOR CHANGES (e.g., course title changes, course deletions, and new generic courses*):

  1. Submit one (1) original curriculum modification form (green sheet) with supporting information attached, if any.
  2. Acquire the following signatures on the original green sheet: department chair/school director and line dean.
  3. Forward to the Graduate College, Secretary to the Dean.

* Courses which the Graduate College considers generic courses are listed on the below.

MAJOR CHANGES (new courses, concentrations, and programs, or modifications of existing program requirements):

  1. Prepare one (1) original curriculum modification form (green sheet) with the supporting information attached.
  2. Acquire the following signatures on the original green sheet: department chair/school director, dean of libraries, and line dean. See approval responsibilities below.
  3. Forward the green sheet with the supporting information attached to the Graduate College, Secretary to the Dean.

Special Note: It takes approximately one month for the library to review the collection as it pertains to new courses. Contacting the Collection Development Specialist assigned to the department at the time the proposal is being reviewed at the departmental level, and attaching the specialist's report to the green sheet, will expedite the overall process.

500-LEVEL GRADUATE COURSES CO-LISTED WITH 400-LEVEL UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Curriculum modifications for undergraduate and graduate courses are separate processes. Once approval is secured for a new 400-level course or modification to an existing one, approval must also be secured for the graduate course. Because graduate students enrolled in a course that meets with undergraduate students are required to do supplementary work to justify graduate credit, the additional requirement(s) for graduate students should be stated in the narrative. Evidence that the new course or modification to an existing course has been approved at the undergraduate level should be attached.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE CHECKSHEET ON REVERSE SIDE OF THE CURRICULUM MODIFICATION FORM BEFORE SUBMITTING

APPROVAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dean of Libraries - Signature of the dean indicates that the library collection can support the new course, concentration, or degree program or, if not, the necessary purchases will be made.

Line Dean - Signature of the dean indicates that any additional resources required to add the new course, concentration, or degree program will be provided in accordance with college priorities.

Graduate Dean for Graduate Council - Signature of the dean indicates that the new course, concentration, or degree program meets Graduate College standards.
