2011 Pallister Francophone Lecture

Denis Chouinard
Wedensday, March 30, 6:00 p.m.
Gish Theater in University Hall

Born in Montréal, Québec, Denis Chouinard has already made quite a name for himself in the French-Canadian film industry. Currently a professor of media studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Chouinard has written and produced films that combine elements of documentary and fiction as they explore the challenges of immigration and ethnic diversity within a country where almost 1/5 of the population was born outside of Canada. His most successful film is the award-winning "L'ange de goudron" ("Tar Angel")—released several weeks before 9/11. The filmmaker will be present for the screening and discussion of the film. A reception with refreshments will follow.

This event is free and open to the public.
