Bowling Green State University constantly strives to improve and enhance the quality of education received by our students.
In the past two years many new programs have been initiated to increase and aid students in their pursuit of just such a meaningful
college experience. Some of these efforts include the reorganization of the General Education program, Service Learning and
Community Action projects, the continued development of living-learning communities, the BG eXperience values initiative,
and increased study abroad programs.
Student Voice hopes to add to this already impressive list of student-centered ventures. Student Voice will be a monthly documentary
news-style video program, produced with the goal of informing BGSU’s administrators and faculty about the thoughts and feelings
of the student body. Each month a student crew, aided by the A&S Vision office, will write, direct, and edit a 5-10 minute
segment discussing student issues. These issues could range from classroom, residence hall, and student service-related topics,
to student motivation, time management, favorite experiences, parking concerns, and engagement and retention.
The first stage of this project will include determining potential topics to present on Student Voice, and organizing a student
crew to work on the series. To this end, A&S Vision is very interested in meeting with University administrators to discuss
topics and foci of interest.
Any and all students are welcome to be involved as crew, submit episode ideas, or be interviewed. The first 4 episodes are
already completed as of 8-5-08. Each video segment will be made available via the web, and specially requested on DVD. We
hope to work with M&C to have each new episode available on the Monitor On-line once a month.
