BGSU faculty and students are involved in a wide range of internationally recognized research programs, including:

• Dead Zone monitoring — Determining the causes of the Lake Erie dead zone

• Sediment core studies — Documenting climate change through the study of lake sediments

• Microbial bioreporters — Assessing the presence of toxins in the environment

• Game fish studies — Developing technologies for tracking fish populations in Lake Erie

• Landscape modeling — Designing sustainable models for endangered species

• Integrated Pest Management — Developing safer agricultural practices

• Dam removal — Assessing the effects of removing dams in Ohio

• Public health — Determining the effects of applying sewage sludge on farm fields
