- Short 20 minute power naps
- Take a 15 minute brisk walk
- Get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night
- Walking through a garden or a park can decrease stress and lower blood pressure
- Write a “Thank You” letter. A higher level of psychological well-being is supported by gratitude and appreciation
- Exercise triggers the production of endorphins which are the body’s natural pain relievers
- Write in a worry journal before bed to reduce stress and insomnia
Diet
- Eat 2 ½ cups of vegetables per day
- Consume fiber from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans
- Eating breakfast on a regular basis reduces your chances of overeating and weight gain
- Avoid drinking empty calorie sodas and diet sodas
- Eat low mercury seafood such as salmon or trout twice a week
- Grilling, roasting, or baking doesn’t add extra fat
