System Outages Scheduled

In order to complete system maintenance and upgrades, the following outages have been scheduled:

  • The Rhythmyx Web Content Management System (CMS) is scheduled for upgrade to a newer release.  CMS version 6.5.2 will be available for use on Mon. Oct. 13.  In order to complete this upgrade, the CMS system will be unavailable from 12 a.m. on Oct 11 until 12 a.m. on Oct 13.  During this upgrade, the CMS system will not be available for use in creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference.
  • FMS will be unavailable from Fri. Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. through Mon. Oct. 13 at 6 a.m. in order to complete and upgrade to a newer release of PeopleTools.
  • From 6 p.m. Thurs. Oct 9 through 2 a.m. Fri. Oct. 10, network hardware upgrades will be completed in Shatzel Hall, West Hall, Life Science, and the Education Building.  During this time period these buildings will have no network communication to other systems either on or off campus.
  • On Thurs. Oct 9 from 5-6 a.m. the following systems will be unavailable:  blogs.bgsu.edu, wiki.bgsu.edu, journals.bgsu.edu, and memories.bgsu.edu

Digital Copyright Safeguards

Digital Copyright Safeguards is a layered, proactive approach to peer-to-peer (P2P) and digital copyright issues at BGSU.  On October 10, a new technology will be implemented that will allow legal use of P2P at BGSU while detecting attempts to obtain copyrighted content in violation of the DMCA.  For more information and further details, please see:  www.bgsu.edu/dmca-safeguards.

 

BG@100 October Go-Live Complete

The BG@100 October Go-Live activities have been completed and Graduate Admissions and Schedule of Classes are now "live" in Campus Solutions (CSS).  For Graduate Admissions, CSS is now the system of record.  Applications for Summer 2009 and beyond will be processed in CSS.  Schedule of Classes for Summer 2009 and beyond will also be processed in CSS.  Further information about the BG@100 project may be found at:  www.bgsu.edu/bgat100.  The next BG@100 'Go-Live' will take place the weekend of December 5-7.

 

Computer Purchases

The University Bookstore offers computer hardware and select Microsoft software for personal purchase at discounted prices.  Students may reference the RCC (Residential Computing Connection) web site for guidelines on hardware specifications.

Items for purchase or lease using BGSU funds, or systems for use on campus for University business purposes, should see the purchasing process for specifying, ordering, and installing this equipment.

Information Security

The BGSU ITS Information Security Office provides information regarding protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of technology resources at BGSU.  This includes providing BGSU community members with best practices and tools to take preventive measures to secure information technology resources.  This includes alerts regarding relevant security threats and tips for protecting data and systems.  For more information please see:
