Centennial Fanfare Competition
BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY 2010 CENTENNIAL FANFARE COMPETITION

 

Bowling Green State University is pleased to announce the 2010 CENTENNIAL FANFARE COMPETITION. The work shall be a fanfare in honor of the BGSU Centennial Celebration. The winning work will be performed live or via recording at major BGSU 2010 Centennial events, including the Nov. 9, 2010 Centennial Convocation.

RULES FOR ENTRY

DURATION:
The work should be 2 to 4 minutes in length.

ELIGIBILITY:
The competition is open to any current students or alumni of BGSU. BGSU employees and retired faculty are ineligible. The work may not have been previously performed, published or professionally recorded.

INSTRUMENTATION:
Instrumentation is open. Any subsequent transcriptions for media other than the original will only be done in consultation with the composer.

NAME:
The composer’s name must not appear on the entry score or recording. A sealed envelope with name, address, email and phone number of the composer should be affixed to the title page.

MATERIALS REQUESTED:
Please send a score and recording (live or MIDI file) of the submitted work. More than one work may be submitted.

DEADLINE:
All works must be postmarked by Sept. 1, 2009.

RETURN OF MATERIALS:
Materials will not be returned unless a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage is provided. While every care will be taken to assure the safety of submitted materials, BGSU does not accept responsibility for accidental loss, damage, or destruction of materials.

SELECTION AND ANNOUNCEMENT:
A panel of BGSU faculty and staff will serve as judges of the competition. The winner will be announced by Nov. 1, 2009.

While the composer retains the rights to her/his composition, BGSU will reserve the right to use the winning composition for any 2010 Centennial Events they deem appropriate.
