Why/How TJP?
| The Journal and Writing Place started with research questioning notions of interactivity and pedagogy. Beginning in hard copy tests my journals took a natural course to experiments on Local Area Networks, and the successes grew into full-blown Internet applications. TJP has come to be successful because of two wonderful collaborators and co-authors. David Shontz, a programmer at ExxonMobil in Houston, has worked closely with me since TJP's birth on the Web. Interest by teachers in TJP took off so fast, we found ourselves in the spring of 2002 at a crossroads: TJP had turned into a job with many demands and expenses. We had to decide to drop it or push it to the next level. We decided to attempt a short step forward, taking in a new partner, Juan Carlos Ocasio of 4UHost, who has guided TJP to the next level. Though we have three different backgrounds, we have collaborated together to keep TJP going and have been able to keep it teacher and student-user friendly. Within these pages you will discover some of the textual and visual history that influenced the design of the present TJP, some suggestions for journal use, and a touch of journal history. |
