Purpose
The management information systems specialization
deals with intelligent use of information
technology in business organizations. The
program provides in-depth study of computers,
programming, computer networks, Internet,
electronic commerce, database management systems,
and information systems analysis, design,
and development. The program emphasizes application
of problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal
skills combined with knowledge of business
and computers to improve a business organization's
productivity and profitability.
Numerous
opportunities for employment in the area of
information technology and systems analysis
are available. Organizations need system professionals
to identify, design, and develop systems,
and expect these systems to improve the organization's
competitive advantage and support the business
operations.
