How Can I Become a Student Ambassador?

Each spring, an 8-week course - BA 2010 - will be offered to selected students to successfully prepare them to become a Student Ambassador. This course is a closed course and enrollment is only given to those selected students. The new recruits will join the remaining Student Ambassadors who have not graduated to carry out their responsibilities starting in fall of the next academic year.

The Student Ambassador program is limited to 15-20 students. Because space is limited in this elite program, an application and selection process has been implemented.

The following are the requirements for applicants:

  • Have a minimum of two semesters as a student on the Main BGSU campus prior to being appointed as a Student Ambassador (Fall)
  • Must be pursuing at least one of the following degrees:
    • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Bachelor’s in Economics
    • Minor within the College of Business Administration (CBA)
    • MBA, Master of Accountancy, Master’s in Economics, or Master’s in Applied Statistics after graduating from the College of Business
  • Must be available to serve as a Student Ambassador for at least one academic year (Fall & Spring) following successful completion of BA 2010 and be available on-campus for that year
  • Have a minimum cumulative BGSU Undergraduate GPA of 3.0, prior to being appointed as a Student Ambassador (Note: freshmen must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.25 or better and a minimum overall ACT score of 23 or higher.)
  • Demonstrate professional demeanor and have the ability to admirably represent the College of Business to alumni, potential students, and other constituents
  • Demonstrate involvement in student organizations

What Do I Need to Submit?

Please send a resume, BGSU transcript (unofficial is acceptable), and personal statement (500 words or less) explaining why you would make an excellent Student Ambassador for the College of Business. Optional is a letter of reference from a College of Business faculty or staff member. (For freshmen, you won't be able to get a transcript yet but include your high school GPA and ACT score on your resume.)

All materials are sent to Dean Ray Braun, 371 Business Administration Building, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403, or via fax 419.372.2875, or e-mail: amywest@bgsu.edu.  Application deadline is October 31, 2014.
