"The dual M.A. in French and History has enriched my studies in both fields. My in-depth knowledge of French literature and culture, as well as my language skills, are advantageous for my historical studies. My knowledge of history has, in turn, informed my reading of French texts. The interdisciplinary approach offered in this program has opened innumerable doors for my future studies and career by allowing me to develop a unique academic perspective."
If you have been facing the dilemma of having to choose between French and History or two other different disciplines, that difficult choice is no longer necessary. Four departments at Bowling Green State University have joined forces to create a unique program of study leading to the simultaneous granting of two master's degrees, in French and either in Spanish, German or History. A Dual degree in French and Political Science has recently been added to the dual degree option. Dual degree students typically take three years to complete their degree, spending one year in France (or, soon, in Québec), and if they have chosen the Spanish or German M.A. degree program, the second year is spent abroad in that target culture.
Applicants to the Dual MA program must follow all instructions for applying to each program and be accepted into each program. Click here for instructions to apply for the French program. We admit qualified applicants as their files are completed. It is therefore best to apply as early as possible, preferably before February 15.
