            The Department of Chemistry and Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University invite applications from outstanding individuals to fill an interdisciplinary tenure-track Assistant Professor position in polymer photochemistry whose research interests complement the departmental thrust in materials. Appointment begins Aug. 2017.

            The primary instructional function of the person appointed will be interdisciplinary across the areas of polymer chemistry, the chemistry of materials, and photochemistry. Specific teaching duties would include rotation within the undergraduate organic curriculum, lecture and lab, and also within the graduate Photochemical Sciences courses in photochemistry and photophysics. It is also anticipated that the appointee will contribute to special topics courses in areas of his/her expertise.

            Most importantly, the appointee will be expected to initiate an independent research program that will generate a high level of scholarly work and will attract significant funding from extramural agencies. The appointee’s chosen research programs would preferably be aimed at interfacial areas involving an overlap of polymer chemistry (synthesis and/or characterization) with both the photosciences and materials chemistry.

Qualifications include:

·      A doctoral degree in Chemistry or a related discipline with a scientifically broadening postdoctoral experience.

·      A demonstrated record of accomplishment in the broadly defined areas of polymer chemistry, photochemistry and/or materials chemistry.

·      Potential for instructional expertise.
