This is what current students are saying about the 2009 ACTION Summer Bridge program:
The Summer Bridge Program impacted me in ways I didn’t think possible. I have to be honest. When I went into this, I thought
that I would be surrounded by “computer geeks” or “nerds.” However, I found that everyone was just like me and loved having
fun. This bridge program gave me the comfort that I was looking for before heading off to college. I was nervous about getting
adjusted to campus, meeting new people, and handling homework. This program was a great pathway from high school to college.
I now have a core group of friends that I know will be there for me for whatever I need. I also have a great study group!!
But saying that it only gave me friends would be wrong. I also was acquainted with professors, including the ones in charge
of this program, and I know that they will help me if I ever need it and are trying as hard as I am to help me become a superb
math and science teacher. I am delighted to say the Summer Bridge Action Program would be a great experience and opportunity
for anyone considering becoming a math or science teacher, and encourage people to join!

When my mom told me to apply for the Science and Math Education in Action program, I cringed at the thought of spending my
summer in school. However, it was by far one of the best decisions I ever could have made. Experiencing the academics of the
program was really great. I was able to experience the pace of college courses while also being introduced to many wonderful
BGSU professors. Aside from the academics, I was able to experience many aspects of residence life, the campus layout, and
campus food. The Science and Math Education in Action program made a huge impact in my life and I am now looking forward to
moving in to BG with a great advantage over most freshmen.

Throughout the five-week summer program, I was able to make new friends with common interests, meet numerous faculty members,
and acquire a sense of belonging on campus. With the help of Dr. Moses and the other staff members of the program, I was guided
in the right direction for my first semester of classes and provided with multiple experiences that I will never forget such
as interacting with boa constrictors, launching model rockets, and solving seemingly impossible statistical problems. The
program definitely made me a better, more outgoing student here at Bowling Green State University.

The ACTION summer program helped me get acquainted with BGSU Campus and also the faculty. I really enjoyed going to the activities
that were planned. I also made 24 new friends who I know will always be there for me, and I know that they will help me understand
my homework if I don't quite understand it. The summer program got me back into the groove of school and just altogether helped
me adjust to the college life. Being able to work with some of the professors was a good experience. Being here also made
me aware of what the professors expect from me. Overall I really enjoyed my time here over the summer and I know that it will
definitely help me into the future.
