Degree Programs

The Department of Telecommunications offers the following degree options:

* The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.
* The Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAC) with an emphasis in telecommunications.

To be accepted to the BA or BAC degree programs, please see the BGSU Office of Admissions where you can find information on application deadlines, admission requirements, transferring credit, costs and housing.

Major, Bachelor of Arts (37- 42 hours in the major)

* TCOM 103, 260, 262, 263, 264, 355, 360, 366, 460, 489 (28-33)
* Focus area: 3 courses at the 300-400 level (9). A faculty adviser must approve the focus area.
* Earn a grade of "C" or better in all TCOM courses
* Complete a minor in another department. A student wishing to pursue an interdisciplinary minor must have the endorsement of the faculty adviser and approval from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Major, Bachelor of Arts in Communication (37- 42 hours in the major)

* TCOM 103, 260, 262, 263, 264, 355, 360, 366, 460, 489 (28-33)
* Focus area: 3 courses at the 300-400 level (9)
* Earn a grade of "C" or better in all TCOM courses
* Complete a support field of at least 9 hours in one department other than Telecommunications. A student wishing to pursue an interdisciplinary support field must make an argument in writing to the faculty adviser. The support field must be declared in writing by the end of the student's junior year.

Minor, Telecommunications (21 hours)

Students majoring in other degree programs can minor in telecommunications.

* TCOM 103, 355 (6)
* Two 3-credit hour courses from TCOM courses at 200-300 level (6)
* Three 3-credit hour courses from TCOM courses at 300-400 level (9)
