Alumni Industry Advocate Advisory Board
The Alumni Advisory Board of the Department of Telecommunications serves to advise the Department of Telecommunications in resource development and professional engagement initiatives, and works with the chair of the department to achieve these initiatives. The Board will be composed of 8-12 distinguished alumni of the Department of Telecommunications (or formerly known as Radio Television & Film). Its members offer support to accomplish the mission of the department and the School of Communication Studies in which the department belongs.

Brian D'Aurelio, 1996
Brian D'Aurelio is Sr. Director of National Promotions and Events Marketing of Sirius XM Radio. Formerly he was an on-air personality and Operations Manager for three Emmis radio stations in New York City with a combined weekly listenership of over 6+million and $50+million in annual revenue. He has produced hundreds of concerts and events from Hip Hop to Rock & Pop, including shows at Madison Square Garden and Giants Stadium featuring acts like Aerosmith, Tool, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Diddy, Jay Z, Britney Spears and crowds of 50,000+. Along with his role as Operations manager for 101.9 RXP (1019rxp.com), Hot 97 (hot97.com) and 98.7 Kiss FM (987kissfm.com) in New York, he is an on-air personality 7pm - midnight on ROCK 101.9 RXP "The New York Rock Experience" and available via live stream worldwide at 1019RXP.com. Prior to this he has held various on and off-air duties in radio starting at BGSU on WFAL and working his way to Chicago and eventually New York where he has resided for the past 10 years. Brian's resume features over 15 years of experience managing media marketing, operations and brand building at brands such as Z100 (WHTZ NYC), HOT 97 (WQHT NYC), and 97.9 The Loop (WLUP Chicago)."

Brittany Barhite Brittany Barhite, 2005
Brittany graduated with honors in 2005. She majored in telecommunications with a minor in political science. She received her masters' degree in communication from BGSU as well. She use dot work as Promotion/Marketing Manager for Cumulus Radio Toledo. You can also hear Brittany live on Star 105.5 during the weekends. She now works as Organization Change Management & Training Analyst at First Solar Energy, Toledo and teaches in Owens Community College as adjunct faculty.

Lisa Braun, 1987
Marketing Manager, Cincinnati Reds  
Lisa  handles the advertising, strategic partnerships and media promotions for the Cincinnati Reds.  Her diverse background in media and entertainment includes serving as Vice President of Music Marketing & Promotion for MTV, as well as New Media Director for Clear Channel Cincinnati.  Lisa has experience in radio programming and on-air with several stations in Ohio and Indiana.  She has been inducted into the Matthew 25: Ministries Humanitarian Hall of Fame and named one of Billboard Magazine’s Most Powerful People in Hard Rock. Lisa is a former WFAL Program Director and has served as President of the BGSU Radio Alumni Society.

Ray Crawford, 1993
Ray Crawford is an on-air talent on programming produced by Fox Sports Ohio.  He currently works on the network's coverage of the NHL, college basketball and high school football. An internship led to Crawford's first professional job at a small TV station in Findlay.  From there, he made stops in Missouri and North Carolina before returning to Ohio at WSYX/WTTE in Columbus in 1998.  While there, he won an EMMY Award for his reporting and received recognition from the Associated Press. Crawford's career began in the studios of West Hall.  As a member of the BG Radio Sports Organization, he was a play-by-play announcer for various Falcons sports broadcasts.  He also reported sports on the first anchor team of BG 24 News in 1992.

Nick Gorant, 1984
President and Founder, Sea Lion Estates and Studio
Gorant founded Sea Lion Studio in Bowling Green in 2002 to bring media technology to the Bowling Green community.  The studio is a outgrowth of his Sea Lion Estate multimedia production company. He launched BGFile.com as a virtual storefront and local information portal.  All his employees are BGSU graduates.

Marketing Solutions Manager, Comcast Entertainment Group
Joshua was one of the graduates who went through the E! internship program of the TCOM department and hired subsequently by Comcast/E!. He began as an executive assistant in the Marketing Solutions Department upon graduation. He was promoted to the current manager position in 2010.

David Kennedy, 1976, 1981
David is the CEO of Flycast, Inc.  FlyCast (www.FlyCast.fm) was founded in 2006 by a group of seasoned PC industry veterans to create advanced IP-based mobile delivery technology that focused on smart phones and other mobile digital media devices.  The company’s FlyCast application offers users over 1200 channels of entertainment, delivered to their smartphone over wireless connections. Prior to his work at Flycast, he was CEO/Vice Chairman of Interep National Radio Sales in New York. Interep (IREP.PK) is the nation's largest independent advertising sales and marketing company specializing in radio, the Internet, television and complementary media, with offices in 17 cities. During the 1970s, David held various radio positions at WMHE and WLQR until being promoted to Director of Program Research for Susquehanna Radio Corp. In August of 1989, he was named Senior Vice President and assumed direct responsibility for WFMS, Indianapolis, and WRRM, Cincinnati, while managing group planning and research operations for all Susquehanna stations. David has actively participated in, and received numerous accolades from, the National Association of Broadcasters, Radio Advertising Bureau, John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation, and the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation among many others.

kelli kling Kelli Kling, 1992
Kelli served as Program Director and Operations Manager for WFAL-AM as well as DJ for WBGU-FM. While earning a Master of Education in Technology from BGSU, she focused her attention on a new course about the "Internet and World Wide Web" and is currently one of the instructors of this course in the Department of TCOM. Professionally, Kelli is the Director of Marketing, PR, and Special Events for the Wood County Historical Center & Museum in Bowling Green, OH, and serves on various boards throughout the community such as the Black Swamp Arts Festival, BG Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Main Street Bowling Green.  She is the recipient of the first Alumni Service Award of the TCOM Department.

Ed Niemi, 1996
Ed Niemi is the Vice President of Affiliate Relations & Distribution for SportsTime Ohio (STO). STO is a regional sports network and the TV home of the Cleveland Indians. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Ed is responsible for all aspects of the Affiliate Sales Department including negotiating distribution contracts and developing and maintaining strong relationships with STO’s cable and satellite affiliates. Ed has been in the cable industry since graduating with a BA in Communications, working in local ad sales for Cablevision and affiliates sales and marketing for Fox Cable Networks. While at BGSU, Ed was a member of the Men’s Golf Team.

Nick Ramos, 2005
Producer / Evolution Media ("Real Housewives of Beverly Hills") & Freelance Field Producer/Segment Director / CBS Television Studios , Los Angeles, CA
After graduating Bowling Green State University, Nick Ramos moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in television production. Having gained valuable experience at Fox Toledo News, during his senior year in college, Nick was able to bring such experience to his first job in Hollywood at E! Entertainment. Thanks in part to E!s internship program pioneered by former Senior Vice President of Production, Jeff Shore, Nick was able to learn the inner workings of a fast-paced production environment and in a short time made the transition from production assistant to supervising producer. With nearly seven years of television experience under his belt, Nick’s credits include television shows and short-form (New Media) programming for E!, E! International, Style, Reelz Channel, Sí TV, BET, Bravo, and several other established shows and production houses.

Dave has only 12 years of promotion and marketing experience and served as commercial and promotion editor/producer. He received his bachelor in RTVF and M.A. in Communication from Bowling Green State University.  He  provide market research and audience analysis for the station.

Patricia Silver, 1976
President, Sphere Entertainment.
Pat's strong broadcasting career expanded into the creation of the Sphere Entertainment agency in 1980, which has grown to represent 2000 artists for bookings worldwide at theatres, festivals, fairs, municipal celebrations, parties, corporate events and malls. Sphere is a major producer of licensed TV character live shows in North America. Sphere is single-handedly responsible for the artistic survival of many of Canada's outstanding performing artists. Pat has been nominated for a Juno Award, certified with a Gold Record, and won many arts awards. Her book, Face Painting, was a best-seller and sells well worldwide. She was nominated for the prestigious "Toronto Sun Women on the Move" award, serves on many industry boards, is the International Representative to the Children's Entertainment, and has been recognized for important community contributions from many organizations.

Jon Sinton, 1977
Co-Founder and President, Progressive Voices, Inc.
Jon Sinton is a Co-Founder and the President, Progressive Voices, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, a nonprofit educational organization whose initial product is the Progressive Voices App for smartphones and tablet. He is also the President of Progressive Agenda LLC, Atlanta, Georgia, a media consulting and content syndication firm. His syndicated properties include the popular news radio magazine program "Ring of Fire" with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Mike Papantonio and David Bender; The Mike Malloy Show, and GRITtv with Laura Flanders. Prior to his current position, he was COO/President and Publisher, Georgia Online News Service, Creator and Founding President, Air America Radio, New York, New York where he created the "Progressive Talk" radio format now heard online, as well as on terrestrial and satellite radio.

Mitch Waxler, 2008
Studio Manager, Smash Studios, New York
Mitch Waxler graduated from BGSU in May 2008 and immediately headed to NewYork City for his dream job at Smash Studios, a prestigious recording studio with a large clientele of music industry luminaries. Established in 1989, Smash was voted “The Best Studio In New York” by the Village Voice and named “Best of the East” by Mix Magazine. Smash is New York's largest rehearsal/recording facility with more than 10,000 square feet of music production facilities jam-packed with the highest quality gear and recording suites.

Ninette Widman, 1995
Ninette started at a LPTV station working as an Editor, on-air Talent, Producer/Director and Manager. In 1998 she joined Buckeye CableSystem in Toledo, Ohio. She has had an array of experience with Buckeye working in Master Control, Production and Traffic. Fall 2005 Ninette became Supervisor of the multichannel, multifunctional Master Control for Buckeye called Local Stations. She runs a 24/7 department which broadcasts for BCSN, The Community Channel & WT05-The CW as well as managing a range of functions for Ad Sales in Toledo & Sandusky, Marketing, Engineering and external entities.

  Susie Ybarra, 2002
Promotion Manager of WGTE-Toledo
A week after graduation Susie interviewed and accepted a position as full time photographer at NBC 24 in Toledo, Ohio. Stayed there until 2004, then she moved to Los Angeles to work at Kandoo Films. a promo production company in Sherman Oaks as executive assistant (LA) to the executive producer. She also worked as the Development assistant at Lighthearted Entertainment. Which produced shows NEXT, on MTV and Extreme Makeover on ABC. She moved back to Toledo in 2006 and worked at WTOL-TV as a full time Photographer. Then she moved to public television by working as associate producer of WGTE-Toledo and recently was promoted as Promotion Manager.

  Ryan Young, 2006
Director of Marketing and Promotions, Cumulus Radio Toledo/Monroe.
Ryan is the Director of Marketing and Promotions at Cumulus Radio Toledo/Monroe. Ryan handles K100 (WKKO), Star 105.5 (WWWM), 94.5 XKR (WXKR), 93.5 WRQN (WRQN), ESPN 106.5 The Ticket (WLQR), 100.7 The Vibe (WXKR-HD2), www.ToledosZone.com (WXKR-HD3), and MY 98.3 (WMIM). Ryan also does on-air local sports updates on ESPN 106.5 The Ticket and many different live remote broadcasts for several of the Cumulus stations. Prior to being Director of Marketing and Promotions Ryan has held several jobs at Cumulus Toledo including Morning Show Producer, Morning Show Host/Co-host, and Program Director. Ryan has also worked at Clear Channel Toledo, NBC 24-WNWO, and Channel 11-WTOL.

Ryan is the National Account Director in Detroit for blip.TV. Prior to his current position, he was the account manager for AOL Advertising in Detroit.
