Incoming freshmen this fall will have the opportunity to learn about the timely topic of migration as part of their BGSU 1910: First-Year Seminar classes. At its final meeting of the academic year on June 22, the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees took steps to prepare for 2017-18. One college will begin the year with a new name that better expresses its mission and vision. The trustees approved the renaming of the College of Business Administration to simply the College of Business, which is broader and does not limit its identity.

The Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees at its June 22 meeting approved educational and operating budgets with the understanding that the state biennial budget has not yet been finalized in Columbus. Ohio’s fiscal year 2018-19 budget is scheduled to be finalized and approved by the state legislature and the governor by June 30. State universities are also required by law to have a balanced budget approved and in place by that date.

Alumna Anne Tait ’94 used a Gettysburg residency as inspiration for her creations based on memorial art. A noted expert on gravestone studies, Tait layers intricate embroidery with images from memorials, combining historical formats and materials with modern technology to create a haunting series of artworks.
