Will Hermanowski Wins 1st Prize in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs 2023 Collegiate Composer's Contest

Congratulations to Will Hermanowski, winner of 1st prize in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Collegiate Composer's Contest! Will is a second year Master's student in the CMA pursuing degrees in composition and choral conducting.

Will's piece, titled "Dance Adjacent" was performed at the Emerging Composer's Intensive (ECI) at a Hidden Valley Music Seminar. "Dance Adjacent" will also be performed at BGSU's 2024 New Music Festival. 

Program Notes:

"Composed for the 2023 Hidden Valley Emerging Composers Intensive, Dance Adjacent is seen through the eyes of a person on the edge of a dance floor. For some people, dancing and socializing comes naturally. For others, fear, anxiety, and stress can take over their entire mind and body. That first step into an unfamiliar environment can be overwhelming, but also exhilarating, like waiting in line for a rollercoaster. In these moments, butterflies will fill your stomach with excitement and nervousness. Dance Adjacent attempts to capture that feeling."
